This page is maintained by Marcus du Toit to explain how I handle your information when you contact me about heavy equipment and trucks. I represent Combined Truck and Equipment Group (CTEG), 1 Jurgens Road, Jet Park, South Africa. This policy is written to align with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA, Act 4 of 2013).
1. Who I am
Marcus du Toit, Equipment & Truck Specialist at CTEG. You can reach me on WhatsApp at +27 82 757 9068 or email mdutoit@cteg.co.za.
2. What I collect
- Information you give me: name, phone number, email, company, province, equipment of interest, and anything else you include in a message, quotation request, WhatsApp chat, call or email.
- Site usage: basic analytics such as pages viewed, referring source, approximate location, device and browser. If Google Analytics is enabled, this is collected via cookies.
- Click events: clicks on WhatsApp, call and email buttons are logged so I can follow up and improve the site.
I do not knowingly collect information from children, and I do not process special personal information (such as health, religion or biometrics).
3. Why I use it
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quotation.
- To arrange demos, deliveries, finance applications and after-sales support.
- To send you information about equipment, parts and offers you asked about.
- To keep records required by law (e.g. tax, finance and warranty).
- To improve this website and the quality of my responses.
4. Legal basis
I rely on your consent (when you contact me), the performance of a contract or pre-contract steps (quotations, sales, rentals), my legitimate interest in running the business, and compliance with South African law.
5. Who I share it with
I only share what is needed, with:
- CTEG colleagues involved in fulfilling your request.
- Brand principals and dealers (e.g. Shantui, Powerstar, Foton) when a specific model, part or warranty requires it.
- Finance houses and insurers, only with your consent during an application.
- Service providers that host the website, send email, run analytics or process WhatsApp messages. They act on instruction and are bound by their own POPIA / GDPR obligations.
- Authorities, if required by law.
I do not sell your personal information.
6. Cross-border transfers
Some service providers (hosting, analytics, messaging) store data outside South Africa. Where this happens I only use providers that offer protection comparable to POPIA.
7. How long I keep it
Enquiry and quotation records are kept for as long as needed to serve you and to meet legal obligations (typically up to 5 years after our last interaction, longer where tax or finance law requires). You can ask me to delete your information sooner.
8. Cookies
The site uses a small number of cookies for core functionality and, if enabled, Google Analytics. You can block cookies in your browser settings — the site will still work.
9. Security
I use reputable hosting and messaging providers with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls. No system is perfectly secure — please don't send sensitive ID or banking details over WhatsApp or email unless I've asked for them through a specific process.
10. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Ask what information I hold about you.
- Ask me to correct or delete it.
- Withdraw consent or object to direct marketing at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) — inforegulator.org.za.
To exercise any of these, message me on WhatsApp or email mdutoit@cteg.co.za.
11. Changes to this policy
I'll update this page when things change and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated where reasonably possible.
